Walter “Babe” Satalic Charity Golf Outing Sponsor

Dear Friend:

On Friday, September 12, 2014, Iron Workers Local #1 will hold the Walter “Babe” Satalic Charity Golf Outing. The Golf Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your participation over the past years. With your help, we were able to make donations to Diabetes and various children’s charities. We hope that you will consider participating in this year’s fundraising effort. Besides donating to a very deserving cause, it will also provide your company or organization with an opportunity to receive some appreciative recognition.

“Regular Hole Sponsorships” are available for a contribution of $150.00. “Gold Hole Sponsorships" are available for a $300.00 contribution. Each sponsor’s name and/or logo will be displayed at an assigned tee box. Also, items may be donated such as gift certificates, sporting event tickets and retail products to be used as door and raffle prizes. Individuals, corporations and organizations that participate in this way will also receive special recognition. If you have any questions, please call 708.366.6695 or e-mail: craig@iwlocal1.com. We thank you in advance for your support and involvement.

Sincerely,

Honoring Our Veterans

The Local One Retirees Club and Local One have joined together to honor members of Local One who served in the Armed Forces of our country with a permanent memorial listing their names to be displayed at the Local One Union Hall.
This effort will be totally funded by voluntary contributions by those who wish to honor our Veterans. Anyone wishing to contribute can write a check to Local #1 Veterans Memorial and send it to Retirees Club, P.O. Box 2457, Orland Park IL. 60462-2457.
We are seeking Veterans names, both past and present, which war he/she served in, from World War One to the present and their service branch.
Contributions are not necessary to submit a Veterans name.
Many of our Veterans are gone, so it’s up to relatives and friends to remember them. We know memories are faulty, but we would rather have a wrong name, then miss one. We ask that names and contributions be submitted as soon as possible.
Names can be submitted in the following ways:

  • You may add the name to the list of Veterans that will be posted in the Union Hall
  • You may call the union office at 708 366-6695
  • You may e-mail the Veterans information to ironworkers333@att.net
  • You may send the Veterans information, including a photo, (if you wish), to Retirees Club, P.O. Box 2457, Orland Park IL. 60462-2457

"Ironworkers standing behind Obama"

As reported in Mike Sneed’s column last week, a member of our union, Iron Workers Local 1, recently affixed a Mitt Romney banner to an antenna atop the Willis Tower. Just to be clear, while we respect and support every union member’s right — and every American’s right — to support the candidate of their choice, Iron Workers Local 1 has formally endorsed President Barack Obama for re-election.
President Obama has taken bold action to put people back to work and get the economy back on track. He passed an economic stimulus package that included $90 billion for roads, bridges, transit, clean water and building construction and created more than 3.6 million jobs. He overturned the Bush administration’s ban on Project Labor Agreements, which ensure that federal projects are completed on time and under budget. And President Obama has fought to protect workers, signing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and doubling the number of prevailing-wage complaint investigations by his administration.
